Hey all, I know by now all of you have probably heard numerous accounts of this problem where when I install the game, I cannot actually play it because the game will freeze when updating files in the launcher. browse to your lotro install folder and rename both client_highres.dat and client_highres_aux_1.datx to .old, this will mean lotro is not able to recognise the files and you will loose the highres textures this is what we want The problem is that one of the files you are downloading is corrupt -- it might be that when you first tried to download it, you encountered a communications glitch on your incoming line, and that corrupted the file as it was written to disk. And yet when I start the game client it keeps failing at CheckDatFiles failed ("Unable to decrypt and deserialize the data downloaded from the server") Neither firewall nor any kind EDIT: Stuck on 77% with checking DAT files Some people have this problem too, but I haven't found a solution for this. I wonder if that is a problem with the LOTRO servers Plugin Compendium Configuration Files(work in progress) When LPC installs new plugins, it will look for a file with a .plugincompendium file extension in the download it uncompresses. This file helps it know a few specifics regarding an install. What the id, name, and version of the plugin as it is states on lotro interface for the install. Within there you may find a "Program Files (x86)" folder. If so, double-click to open that. Within it should contain either a 'Turbine' folder or one named for the game (e.g. either Dungeons and Dragons Online for DDO or The Lord of the Rings Online for LOTRO) and if it does right-click on that folder, choosing delete (if you receive an access denied message, be sure that the game launcher as Hello, I've played F2P some-what time ago and I remembered there was a high and low resolution download and after looking on the site there still is (for PC atleast). I'm downloading now from Steam and I wonder what version does steam have for download? The high, or low resolution? I'm quite new to Lotro, actually I haven't played it for more than 1,5 hours I think. 1) Download the .zip file. 2) Extract the CombatAnalysis folder from inside the .zip file into your LOTRO "Plugins" directory: "(My) Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins" (you may need to create this folder if it doesn't already exist, which has to be called Plugins with a capital "P").
